Be Here & Now
Most of my life I was told I needed to find a niche aesthetic in order to market myself properly. Although I understand this view point, and see how it can be effective, my authentic expression does not fit into one box, and I will not change or limit myself to do so. I choose to allow my creativity to flow freely, going from one style to another, as this is who I am; adaptable, versatile, and always changing. I see these traits as assets which I share with my clients as we discover together how to best capture their unique self-expression, story, and soul in a safe container of love and acceptance.
The Story
Saila's photography journey began at the young age of 4 when she was gifted a little polaroid for her birthday and immediately fell in love with capturing the world around her. From the polaroid came the point and shoot and then a Canon t3i in 10th grade. She often found herself spending the weekends taking photos of her close friends and chasing sunsets rather than working on her math and science homework. She felt unsure as to what she wanted to pursue in life, as she only saw photography as a hobby.

She began college at Montana State University still unsure as to what she wanted to study, until she took the Film Photography Basics course with Dan Wise and it became very clear. She loved photography and wanted to pursue this passion to learn all she could. The following years, she immersed herself in the major with classes all about different forms, techniques, tools, history, and finding her own personal style. She finished out her degree with the Best In Show award at her senior thesis exhibition with a full and happy heart.

Now two years post graduation, after a brief creative hiatus, she has photographed portraits, families, businesses, and for herself, as this passion she holds increases with time. Traveling to new countries has broadened her horizons and given her the opportunity to capture different walks of life. Travel has given her the desire to go see and learn more while living in the here and now, capturing life's beautiful moments along the way.
